Dot's to Dot's Blog Hop & Giveaway

It is an exciting day today.  It is my turn to blog  and show you one of my newest quilts.

BUT before I get carried away, I want to give a BIG THANKS to Corrie and Madame Samm  for all their hard work, with this hop and for letting me join in.

For this, I designed a special quilt and am having one GREAT giveaway.  I designed it on my  EQ 7.

I got out my fabric which I purchased from Fat Quarter Shop a while back.  I kept them handy till I designed the perfect quilt to show them off.

Next I cut out all my fabric.  I usually cut all my pieces then start sewing, but this time I did things a little different.  I only cut my middle square and the squares around it.

Then I sewed the middle block.  It is a 12 ½ inc block called “Aunt Dinah”.

Next I sewed the blocks that were to go all around it.  (Doing it this way, I was sure that the fabric was all going to blend in perfectly.)  I made 8 -   12 ½” blocks called “Oatmeal Raisin Cookies”

I then placed one of these blocks near my cutting table, again making sure that I cut the fabric that I wanted and felt matched into it for the next blocks.  I sewed them together making another 8  -  12 ½” blocks

I am putting the blocks together diagonally so I needed side triangle blocks to fill in.  I decided to incorporate a block called “Thrifty”.  I made 8 of these.

Next was the 4 corners.  If you look carefully you will see I made the same block that I had used previously.  The “Oatmeal Raisin Cookie” (isn’t that a great name for a block, makes me hungry)

After I sewed all my blocks together I cut random strips of 2 ½” and sewed them around making 2 separate boarders.

I ended by putting a solid 3 inch boarder of Turquoise fabric.    I  then machine quilted this in an all over pattern of flowers and vines that I had drawn to match the quilt.

I love the Stella Dots with two dot sizes mixed in together, particularly the Sterling on white.

wow, your quilt is a testament to EQ7--I've seen other people use it, but it has always been more like "here's one block and if you make 1,001 of them, here's what your quilt will look like!" But yours is really amazing and to see it finished, well, I'm thoroughly impressed! (and a jealous too!!)
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I adore Michael Miller's mirror ball dot print--in candy and celestial would make my year!!
