Merry Christmas Everyone

Are you ready???  The first week of December I got all my cards signed (plus letters in most) and in the mail.  Then the shopping all got finished and what needed was mailed.  Ah, all in good time.  Then last week I got my cookies all baked (15 batches).  So today I made 14 trays made and passed out.  I am oh so ready.  YEAH!!!    It is now time to pour a cup of tea, grab some cookies and just relax in front of the fire.

I have also made a Snowmen quilt this month.  I drew the center snowmen dancing,  One on Snow Shoes and the other on Candy Canes.  The quilt also has appliqued snowflakes surrounding the Snowmen and in each corner has a happy snowman's face.

I used black fabric paint for the eyes, smiles, etc.

Guess that is it for the year 2013.

I want to wish everyone and their families a Very Merry Christmas!
I hope to see you all in the next hop:

It is going to be a lot of fun.....hope to see you all there!!!!!

Mickey Mouse for Christmas

I have been working on a Mickey Mouse quilt for a special person in, well, we won't say now.  It is going to be a Christmas present for someone special.

I was given the color scheme and what the customer wanted as far as applique.  So next was to get out my pencil and start drawing.  I drew this for the center:

I cut my patterns (reversed) and then using Steam A Seam II, I made my applique:

Next I made 4 Mickey Mouse and 4 Minnie Mouse:

I machine appliqued all my applique onto the white fabric.
(The quilt will be used and enjoyed so I made it machine washable.)
Here is a close up after I painted my lines on:

Next, I cut my fabric and made my blocks.

Besides the 8 applique blocks
there are 28 Star Blocks and
36 Stepping Stone Blocks
For the backing I found Vintage Mickey Mouse fabric.

The quilt was completed by machine quilting in a large stipple stitch and going around each applique carefully.  Then clouds, and lines to emphasize the drawing in the center

I fussy cut a 4 1/2 inch block from the backing, for each corner

My customer had specific instructions as to what she wanted on the label.,
I then added two little applique.

Total size of the quilt is 82" X 82"

OK, I am off and sewing again, so much to do, so little time....Oh, what fun!  I sure hope you are having as much fun as I am.

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!
