Dot's to Dot's Blog Hop & Giveaway

It is an exciting day today.  It is my turn to blog  and show you one of my newest quilts.

BUT before I get carried away, I want to give a BIG THANKS to Corrie and Madame Samm  for all their hard work, with this hop and for letting me join in.

For this, I designed a special quilt and am having one GREAT giveaway.  I designed it on my  EQ 7.

I got out my fabric which I purchased from Fat Quarter Shop a while back.  I kept them handy till I designed the perfect quilt to show them off.

Next I cut out all my fabric.  I usually cut all my pieces then start sewing, but this time I did things a little different.  I only cut my middle square and the squares around it.

Then I sewed the middle block.  It is a 12 ½ inc block called “Aunt Dinah”.

Next I sewed the blocks that were to go all around it.  (Doing it this way, I was sure that the fabric was all going to blend in perfectly.)  I made 8 -   12 ½” blocks called “Oatmeal Raisin Cookies”

I then placed one of these blocks near my cutting table, again making sure that I cut the fabric that I wanted and felt matched into it for the next blocks.  I sewed them together making another 8  -  12 ½” blocks

I am putting the blocks together diagonally so I needed side triangle blocks to fill in.  I decided to incorporate a block called “Thrifty”.  I made 8 of these.

Next was the 4 corners.  If you look carefully you will see I made the same block that I had used previously.  The “Oatmeal Raisin Cookie” (isn’t that a great name for a block, makes me hungry)

After I sewed all my blocks together I cut random strips of 2 ½” and sewed them around making 2 separate boarders.

I ended by putting a solid 3 inch boarder of Turquoise fabric.    I  then machine quilted this in an all over pattern of flowers and vines that I had drawn to match the quilt.

I ended by putting a solid 3 inch boarder of Turquoise fabric.    I  then machine quilted this in an all over pattern of flowers and vines that I had drawn to match the quilt.

Total size is:  66" X 66"

Don’t stop now, there are many other great blogs with lots of Dot’s on.  Here is a list of all that posted just today:

But WAIT… the Dot’s to Dot’s Blog Hop only started on Monday. Click on the button below and see the full schedule so you won’t miss a one!

NOW, Have I got a great GIVEAWAY for YOU!

I have the privilege to offer two ½ yard cuts of your choice, at Fat Quarter shop to 2 lucky winners.  As we all know this is a great shop to get fabric.   You can shop by Designer, Collection, Theme.  Get any cut you would like, and the service, well....... is exceptional!

So, here is the thing….Go to:  FAT QUARTER SHOP  and check out their Dotted fabric.  Then come back and leave me a comment as to what you liked the most.  I will be choosing  2 WINNERS,  each will have their choice of two ½ yard cuts of fabric of their choice at Fat Quarter Shop.

If you are a follower (or become one) you may leave another comment for a second entry.

I will run this giveaway till midnight on September 20th.  That is when I will go to Random.org and select 2 winners.   So tell you friends, and don’t forget to check out the rest of Fat Quarter Shop.
