Today is the first day of the "A Fresh Snow Hop" and it is my day to show what I made!
I want to give a big thank you to Marian Pena, at Seams to be Sew . She came up with a great hop here and did a lot of work organizng and getting it all together. THANK YOU!
That being said....who don't like snow?
(Gee, maybe I should re-think that, lol)
We do not get a lot of snow down here in Tennessee. Surly, not what we are use to. And most of the time when it does snow, it is all melted by noon.
This year we have been having a very warm winter so far. Why we were 74° on Christmas day. The last 2 weeks we were averaging in the 60's!
Oh, I am not complaining, it is nice not to be so cold, just hope it don't mean a hot summer.
(I must confess though, I miss the snow. I got a lot of memories with snow.)

OK now, I have been working on this for quite a while. Since I really like snowmen and blue is my favorite color. This was perfect! See, a friend of me be gave me this adorable pattern
from "Bird Brain" designs, the beginning of November. I worked on this whenever I could. I wanted to get it finished and hang it up to enjoy it. With the holidays and everything else, well, that just didn't happen. It took longer to embroider than I thought.
My Snowmen:
(I don't know why the picture shows up yellow, believe me they are white!)
Now, the pattern shows it as a Table Topper. But anyone who knows me, knows that I don't follow directions. I have to do it my way. Not only that, all the work put in the snowmen, I wasn't going to take any chances of getting anything spilled on them.
So I decided to put a boarder around them to look like a frame.
Kinda like a ribbon perhaps?
I drew some paper piece patterns.
Now, I could have just sewed my pieces together, but I decided to do paper piecing for 2 reasons.
1. They will get perfect.
2. I need the practice.
So I cut out my triangles in an approximate size needed.
Then I started sewing them together.
UGH!!
The most horrible thing happened!
Yes! My Pfaff quit sewing!!
I don't have to tell you how upset I was!
My poor husband tried and tried to fix it. He knows how I love that machine. But unfortunately, it needs a new part.
Lucky, I have a great Featherweight I could use. So the next day I finished my boarder.
Here is where my design wall came in handy. I put the snowmen up, then the blue ribbon around and then the snowflake printed fabric.
Hmmmm.
Decisions, Decisions! I wanted to show off the snowmen, not the boarder.
Sooooo....
Here it is:
After all that, I just didn't like the blue ribbon boarder. It looked too over bearing to me. I wanted something simple.
Total size is: 38 1/2" X 10 1/2”
Oh, I also made these snowmen for my mini stands:
You ask what I am doing today? Hmmm, not sure yet, but for now, I am going to see all the other beautiful "Snow" projects that are shown today. I hope you join me.
