September's Guild Meeting

Can you believe it is September already?  The leaves are slowly starting to fall, and there are pumpkins every!  I must say, I will not miss the humidity!  I don't know where you live, but it was very hot and humid here.  So I am welcoming all those pumpkins

We had another great meeting this month.
Judy Snyder brought it n some of her quilts.  She had a Table turning and the theme was "Scrappy Quilts".

They were all so beautiful, I just had to share them with all if yous.

This one (below) is on my to-do list.

Then they started getting smaller and smaller pieces.

This quilt she embroidered by machine.

Close up shots, beautiful, huh?

This quilt, we were told, has over 22,900 pieces in it.  (Closeup below)

Below, is a block a day quilt she us working on.

Below, her mini quilt, 12" X 12".

After being is Aww with all Judy's quilts we had some beautiful show and tell items brought in:

Above and below are Linda Arant's quilts.

Below is Delectable Mountain Quilt by Bette Bock.

Bette Bock's star quilt.

We even had a guess bring in her mini quilt.

Shelby Giles brought in her version of the Delectable Mountain quilt.  She made a bed topper to match her quilt on her bed.

Monica Elling is into jean quilts these days.

Top picture is top of her quilt made with her husbands jeans, and below is the back, made with her husbands flannel shirts

Below Monica took the pockets of jeans and made two different wall hangings.  But she says they are also useful.  She said she has them hanging on the wall behind her machine to hold some of her quilting tools.  How clever is that?

Below is Joyce Fratini and her Sue Bonnet quilt.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all our quilts.
To view more of our quilts,
Please come over to our facebook page and don't forget to "like" us.  I am sure the girls would appreciate it.

Till next time...

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!

Hot Fun in the Summertime!

Designing quilts is my passion.  I love coming up with new ideas.  Drawing my blocks, making my patterns and putting it all together on paper.  Then picking out my fabrics, sewing it and making it all come together and seeing the finished product.

What helps me think....chocolate!!  🍫
(Can't be helped, being from Hershey, PA, plus working in the plant)

Well, here is one I designed and shared with my quilt Guild last year.  Each month I gave new patterns for blocks.

Three of the blocks were Paper Pieced.

There was even an appliqued block.

These are pictures of my blocks.  I had found fat quarters in my stash that I decided to use.

(My husband says the fabric reminded him of the 70's, lol.  That is where it got its name Hot Fun in the Summertime"

There was a total of 23 blocks.

One was even the Drunkards Path, using the curve piecing technique.

Six of the blocks were 8 inches.

There was a total of nine 5 1/2 inch blocks,

Plus two 4 inch blocks set together.

And three 12 inch blocks.

I did make three of the blocks odd sizes.

The odd size blocks was the applique, and paper pieced blocks.

Those sizes were:
1  at 8 inches X 6 inches
1  at 8 inches X 10 1/2 inches
1  at 8 inches X 12 1/2 inches

There is also a 1 inch sashing around each block and a 1 1/2 inch outer boarder.

The last month, I brought in the last two blocks plus the directions to put them all together.

And here is my quilt...

Total size is:
38 1/2" X 45"
Now, in my directions, I did include measurments for additional boarders.

(Anyone interested in this pattern, please let me know)

My motto has always been...

Creating the Perfect Marriage between Fabric and Thread

OK, back to my room I go, never know what I will come up with next.

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE!!
