Every morning for the last few days, I got up, poured a cup of coffee, got comfy and read some blogs...

I seen such beautiful projects.  I was completely blown away every morning.  (I don't have good Internet reception at my house.  Seems mornings is the best)

Anyone who missed the "Meet and Greet" hop, go to Madame Samm for the complete list of those who percipatated.  I promise, you will truly enjoy seeing all these talented ladies work.  And all the creativity.

As for me, I am working on some UFO's and trying to organize my room.  My partner in crime has better ideas.

Well, I will let her go, she looks too comfy to bother.

Meet and Greet Day

Welcome to Meet and Greet day

Hi, my name is Jane.  Welcome to my so called spot.

I am Pennsylvania Dutch and was born and raised in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.   I have 1 brother,  which is 7 years older than myself.   I Married a wonderful Italian man,  (wow, it will be 40 years, this year) and we have 2 boys and 1 girl and 3 wonderful grandsons.  

I never had anyone in my family that sewed, unless you count my aunt, which crocheted.   I was raised around Amish and Mennonites all my life.  And I always promised myself that one day I wanted to learn to quilt.   I worked full time at Hershey foods, and did a lot of boating with my husband and family. 

Well, That day came 10 years ago.  We left PA and moved to TN.  The children are all grown and we decided to retire here and enjoy our life together.  I am self taught, I read a lot of books and magazines.  (I took my first lesson a few weeks age, on Log Cabin blocks, that was a lot of fun.)

I enjoy designing my own quilts.  I only ever bought 1 pattern.  When I see a quilt I like, I like to copy it myself.  Then add my own twist to it.  I seem to have a problem just making something that someone already made. (Although,  I do sometimes)

I enjoy doing appliqué the most.  Whether it be hand appliqué or machine.   I also love to draw my own appliqué designs.  It is so rewarding to design, draw, and then see it come together. 

My bouquet of Roses:

It is hard picking my best quilts that I made.  So I left it up to my family.  I didn't get unique pictures though, for most of my quilts were given away.

This is a quilt I made my brother and his wife. Their yard is full of roses.  So each appliqué is a different kind of rose.

This is a rose quilt I made in honor of my Uncle.  It is also my husband's favorite:

This is my version of Sue Bonnet Sue.  I added ears and a tail and is became "Sassy the Cat".  (This was all hand done)

A wallhanging, I have been having fun doing different things with "Sally".  In this one, she has 122 pieces:

I also enjoying coloring on fabric.  Here is a baby boys quilt I designed, and colored, then embrodered around:

I even put his name and birthdate in bottom corner.

Bird Tree hop....My Day!

I know everyone had a hard winter this year but Spring is finally here for some others right around the corner.  So those birds are singing and having a High ol' Time.

Well today is my day for the "Bird Tree" hop.

I must say that I have been watching the birds all Winter, same as a lot of yous.  I feel bad for them in the cold and snow so have been feeding them regularly.   I had more and different kinds this year than ever.

They fly in and out of out trees, all tring to get to get their share of Sunfower seeds.   Sometimes I even see the larger birds pushing the little ones off the feeders purch, wanting all the seeds for themselves. So, I throw seeds on the ground for them.  But, lately, I  have heard chirping and singing in our Oak tree that was louder than before,  I kept watching and seen the Wrens, Gold Finches, Robins, Bluebirds, and Cardinals all fly into this tree.  Now they have been in there for awhile.  Like they were having a meeting or something.  So, I snuck up on them to take a picture....

Why, there are all dressed up and ready to go to the Nashville to the "Bluebird Cafe" to hear "Ryan Rooster Lee and the Outlaw Band"!!!

I hope I did not bore you with my story.  When I first signed up for this hop, well, anyone who knows me, knows I got out my pencil and started to draw.

AND being close to Nashville, AND my son singing and playing the bass in the "Ryan Rooster Lee and the Outlaw Band" . 

(What's a mother to do, lol)

I also made myself another pincushion.  I seen pictures of bird pincushions, and well, this is what I came up with....

Before I end, I also want to share another little story.  See, my husband and I used to have a perminate site on Chincoteague Island, VA.  We would go there as much as work would allow us in the summer months.  Everytime we were there, we had a Seagull that was always be on our site.  (Always hunting for scraps)  We called him "R-55".  Well, my husband made me this for my flower bed:

(Not exactly a Seagull, but I like him.  He will always remind us of our good times there.)

I Hear Birds Chirping...

I hear birds chirping away.  Yes, Spring is coming faster than you think.  It is just around the corner.   We had a rough winter here in West TN.   Being stuck inside all winter, I enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them.

We had so many different kinds this year.

I laughed when I seen our decoy ducks on our the pond.  

Fortunately, we did not get much snow and  here our snow does not last long.  It was gone in just a few days.

Those are not the only birds I hear chirping!

A Week of Dreaming

We had some really cold weather these last 2 weeks.  For down here in Tennessee, it has been near record breaking a few nights.  I am not complaining though, I seen what the north east has been getting.  All that snow, Wow!

Just before the cold really came, I got my American Patchwork Magazine.   In there I found an easy design by April Rosenthal.   So last week I decided to dream of Summer and make her quilt.  I dug into mt stach...

Then I found some fat quarters that I had of blues, yellows and a few browns.

The blocks were easy to make, they went like this.....

These plus 4 squares...

Sew them two together...

Then sew 2 of these together....

Wal La..your block!

Then sew them in their proper order.

I am happy with it.  I was hoping to take a few pictures outside with it but unfortunately it rained all day yesterday and is still raining today.  (Hey, it could be worse right?)

Time now to feed the birds.  I feed them year round for I love watching them.   

Then it's off to my room.  I just seen some cuties in the trees and want to capture them in a quilt for the next hop.
