Not long ago I have made this quilt for a friend of mine that lives in CO. She purchased the kit from Keepsake Quilting, and asked if I would put it together for her. She wanted to give it to her son for graduation.
The quilt is called “Smoky River” using the Stonehenge fabric by Northcott.
It was a lot of fun to make, I started by cutting all my fabric out first.
Then I worked on my 16 inch square blocks next. I needed to make 4 of these.
From there I sewed all the rest of the blocks together. I needed 8 diagonal of the 16 inch block, the 9 patch and strips for the sashing, plus make the diagonally corners of the sashing.
.
Placement was easy, I laid it all out to make sure I was mixing up the colors and started sewing it together. The boarders were easier than I thought they would be. All went together well.
I put it all on my frame and quilted with my long arm. I used a pattern I drew with notes and G-Clefts, for the young gentleman that it was going to plays a base guitar in a band.
I really liked the way the gold boarder shows the whole quilt off.
Total size of the quilt is: 76” X 97”.
Here is a picture of the label which I made for the back:
