Christmas is coming, Let's party!

This week our Quilt Guild had our Christmas dinner.  We were so lucky to have Linda DeBoard's open up her lovely home to us.  Thank you Linda!

Each of us brought a covered dish plus a dessert.  We had so much food and it was all so good.

After we all stuffed ourselves, had at least 2 desserts, we all gathered to her living room.  Each of us brought a "Dirty Santa" give to exchange.

For those who don't know what a "Dirty Santa" gift is....we limit ours to $ 15.00 and must be quilt related.  We put all the present in one place the sit around them.  We then each pick a number.   Going in rotation, the person with number 1 picks a gift first, opens it and shows everyone.  Then you keep it for all to see throughout the game.   Continue in order, number 2, then 3, then 4,  etc.

Now, each person takes a turn choosing which gift they want but if they wish, they could choose yours.  If that hapoens, you get to pick another.  Either one that is wrapped, or someone elses.  This goes on till you finally get to the end.  With lots of laughs, you do finally get to the end.

Some go round and round.  Now we play that the gift can only exchange hands 3 times.  After the third time, that person gets to keeps it.  No one can take it after that.

After everyone has chosen and all is done....then it goes back to number 1.  Since she started she had to take one wrapped and never got to choose someone elses.  So now she goes again.  She has the choice to keep what she got or swap with another.

I say swap because, well the game must stop sometime, and it is called "Dirty Santa"

After we opened all the gifts, with so many laughs, we had "Show n' Tell".

These are the quilts that were brought in for us to see...

Everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas.  We all talked about memories, what we are making, party's and pageants to attend, and of course cookies!

Today I have 4 more letters to write to go with cards.  I sent all our cards out but these 4.  Since our relatives and friends live so far away, I write letters to go with each card.  A lot of the older relatives do not use internet.

I also have lots more projects to finish up.  Moving right along, having fun and enjoying my Christmas music.

Hope everyone is having fun.....

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE! ! !

Happy Thanksgiving

Today, I am making my filling, Pumpkin Bread, and Pumpkin Pie.

Every year since we were married (and that will be 40 years come spring) everyone cane to our house for Thanksgiving.  We would have a big house full every year.  Now that we moved to Tennessee,  it is just the 4 of us.  I kinda miss it, but surly not the mess.  So to all those cooking tomorrow, my advice is      :)

I wanted to share with everyone our adventure.  This month our Quilt Guild went on a Field Trip.  Oh what fun we had.  First stop was a Quilt shop (of course)

"Back Yard Fabrics"
This is a great little quilt shop that has almost everything you need.

When we were finished looking in every nook and cranny we were hungry.
So we all headed to "Patty's.

"Patty's" is a country restaurant located in Kentucky at a place called "Land between the Lakes".  (Between Kentucky Lake and Barkley Lake)  The inside has a little country store and is decorated beautifully!   Check out the ceiling!

They are well known for their Pork Chops.  (One order, one pork chop, will feed 2)   They do not skimp on anything they serve.  Just check out this piece of Lemon Meringue pie and the Apple pie:

Now, Patty's is open year round and at Christmas they decorate everything.  Here is the outside ppravillian.   They even got Santa's seat ready.

Their Water Wheel...

Also around the outside of Patty's there are the neatest little log cabins.  Inside are little shops, a jewelry shop, gift shop, dress shop, etc.  (You can get unique gifts.)

I couldn't resist a picture of the bird houses.  I thought they were adorable.

We had a lot of fun, did a lot of laughing, lot of eating, (lot of spending) and made lots of memories.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my pictures and hearing about our adventures.
For now, I got a dinner to prepare for.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Twas the Night, my turn

I must say, this is one of the best hops I was ever in.  A BIG HUGE THANK YOU to Madame Samm and Marlene for coming up with this great idea to exchange gifts with other talented quilters.

The gifts we made for each others and those on our Christmas lists, were to be made in 3 hours or less.

First, let me show you what I received from Leah at Quilted Delights.

Everything came in this beautiful bag:

2 little hand "snap" coin purses:

Inside were these mouth watering chocolates:

A cute needle holder,

3 cute scrubbies,
(I seen dishcloths, but these are smaller, and work so much better)

And...my favorite candy, how I'd you know Leah?

Here are all my wonderful gifts together:
(Minus the candy...I couldn't help myself)

Thank you sooooo much Leah.

I myself, had a rough month, but I did get a few wallets made:

And a few small wallets for our neices:

I am working on making each of our neices a Christmas Stocking.  (A Santa, a snowman, and an Angel)  (believe it or not I have been working on them for almost 2 weeks, yup, it's been a rough month)

I did get some pincushions made.  I could hand sew these while sitting in my chair.

I also want to make each of our neices a doll.  I chose these fabrics.

I made these small dolls the day this hop was announced.  They didn't  turn out quite like what I wanted, so I plan on keeping them for samples.  These were like a test run...now I know just how I want to make them.

Now let's go see what others are sharing this Season.

Before you leave, I want to introduce you to my new tool.  I LOVE IT!!!   That is my "Beam n' Read".  The BEST gift anyone could get.....

I could tell you all about the extra wide personal light from 6 LED's, that DON'T get hot and will not disturb others.

I could tell you how you can switch from 6 LED's to using only 3 LED's and about the adjustible strap.

I could tell you how you can plug it in to household currant (which the cord does not get into your way at all) or use 4 AA batteries (that can last up to 50 hours) and go anywhere with it.  Oh, and how it comes with a large acrylic magnifier and 2 clip on filters for night vision.

BUT....

The best part to me is that with my bad eyes, I can see.  Now, that is what means the most to me!
I now can do any close up work and see.  Whether it be my embroidery or painting.  I can see like I did when I was in my 20's!  All I can say is Thank you Very Much!!!!

Now, come join me and see what others are making for Christmas.     I don't  know about you but I am getting so many ideas as what I can make.  (YEAH!)

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
