A week ago my husband and I had to make a trip to PA. Normally we do not mind. We get to see family and friends. Always eat too much and have a lot of fun. This time the trip was unexpected, for our uncle John had passed away. He will be greatly missed!
Now, I must to say that we did have a good time. In fact, we seen relatives that we haven't seen for a long, long time. Anyway, while there I was given a pattern for a wrist Pin Cushion. Since it was all by hand, I stopped by a fabric store and gotten a wool fabric pack and a few buttons for the closure. Besides that, all I needed was a needle, thread, and scissors.
(Unfortunately, I did not have my camera so am limited on pictures, I am very sorry) I did get a few pictures though. Here is one of the pattern:
First I sewed the small circle onto the funky circle using the blanket stitch. (see above) Then sewed it fast (hiding my stitches) to one of the large circles. Then I added a few cross stitches to the small circle to add a little extra to it. (you do not have to do this if you do not want to)
Next, I sewed the large circles together using the blanket stitch again. I left one inch open to stuff with batting. Then sew it shut. I then put the two long wrist pieces together and sewed the blanket stitch all along the edge to fasten them. Next, sew the cushion to the center of your long strip. You are almost completed.
Last but not least, sew a matching button to one end of the strip. To the other end, carefully cut a slant the length of your button. Do the blanket stitch around the edge.
You now have a Wrist Pin Cushion. Our ride of over 903 miles, so I had time to make quite a few of these:
They look like stocking stuffers to me!
Anyone who would like this pattern........please let me know I will either e-mail or snail mail it to you. I tried mine out yesterday and it really came in handy.
Now I also want to remind everyone of the next blog hop that is coming up: "NANCY DREW IS A CLUE"

cute pincushions ... they would even work as a bow on the top of a package or to hold a gift bag closed.I think it would be a great pattern to play with.

What a great pin cushion. So sorry you had to do a funeral, but glad you got to see lots of family. I would like a copy of the pattern, if I may. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry on the loss of your uncle. I do love the pincushion, though and would love to have a pattern if I may. Thanks so much for sharing it.
